Sustainable Flow Yoga Class: Creating a strong, stable practice.

October 18, 2018 Naomi Hayama
Sustainable Flow Yoga class with Leonora

Tailored Yoga for the hypermobile, the super bendy & the injured.

Monday at 7:30 - 8:45pm with Leonora

This class is open to all, but is especially designed for the hyper mobile, the super bendy and the injured who wish to create or maintain a longevous, sustainable Yoga practice.

As a recovering hypermobile myself, during my 32 year personal practise, I've learnt (the hard way) how to adapt and create a more supportive way of doing Yoga, which incidentally has made me a lot stronger! As a teacher, over the years I've seen a great many people (especially women and fellow Yoga teachers) drawn to Yoga precisely because of their hyper mobility, unaware that a certain way of moving is not only unsustainable but could lead to long term joint instability and/or injury. But we can turn this situation to our advantage, becoming stronger, more self aware, and increasing our movement repertoire and choices. In this way our Yoga can accompany us throughout our whole lives.

Using slow, strong, conscious movement, with attention to detail, this class aims to develop stability and strength, to clarify and improve healthy ranges of motion and joint stability through proprioception, increased movement repertoire and choice through new and different ways of moving, as well including movements to favour the circulation of synovial fluid to help keep joints supple. This could be a stand alone practice or support your current practice, whatever style of Yoga or sport that may be.

Suitable for all levels. Previous experience with Yoga, Pilates, Martial Arts, Dance or Gymnastics is advisable. Please note this is a Flow class. It is not gentle Yoga.

Yin & Yang Yoga class

October 1, 2018 Naomi Hayama
Yin and Yang Yoga with Tash on Wednesday nights

New weekly Yin & Yang yoga class starting Wednesday 3rd October with Tash from 7:30 -8:45pm. This class interweaves the clarifying energy of yang to the rejuvenating qualities of yin. The combination of passive (yin) and vigorous (yang) yoga practices, is rooted in the idea that, in order to create balance in your overall practice, it is necessary to alternately exert and quiet yourself. We will begin by moving through strong dynamic postures, and end with a deeply immersive yin practice, where postures are held for longer periods.

It’s intelligently designed to leave you feeling calm, grounded and centred, having a powerful effect on your energy systems building stability and mobility through asana, pranayama and deep relaxation.  Each week we will focus on a theme varying from joints and body parts to working through chakras.

Everybody is welcome to the class as Tash can cater for all levels through modifications and intelligent use of props.

New afternoon Hatha Yoga class at the Bristol Yoga centre

New weekly Thursday Hatha Yoga class with Tracey from 20th September from 14:00 - 15:00pm. Tracey Stone has completed the British Wheel of Yoga Diploma for yoga teaching (500 hours) and the BWY Foundation Course in Yoga.

Yoga has been an invaluable guide to Tracey for supporting her through physical and spiritual development from attending her first class at the age of 14 and through life’s many fabulous challenges since.

She teaches a breath led practice, beginning with a little time spent becoming aware of and connecting to its flow.  Tracey will encourage you to maintain this awareness as we move through a well organised series of asana (poses), with time to notice subtle changes in the quality of your mind and sensations in your body.
